Twins gain sweep; Melvin wins first

Kyle Lohse allowed two hits in eight innings as the visitingMinnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 3-0 Thursday to complete anopening three-game sweep.

Minnesota improved to 3-0 for the second time in three years. TheTigers, who started 0-11 last season, managed just two runs and 10hits in the series and have lost 12 straight to the Twins. The gamedrew 8,862, the smallest crowd at Comerica Park, which opened in2000.
