TODAY

"Good Morning, America" (7 a.m., WLS-Channel 7): A young unknowngets some much-needed TV exposure. Her name? Jessica Simpson.

"Dateline NBC" (7 p.m., WMAQ-Channel 5): Tom Brokaw examines thenation's health care system from the perspective of both experts andordinary Americans who've had to deal with it. The focus is on thetremendous advances in care and the tremendous costs for hospitals,patients, employers and taxpayers.

"Tiger Cruise" (7 p.m., Disney Channel): A daddy (Bill Pullman)and daughter (Hayden Panettiere) get to know each other better whenthe kid happens to be aboard her father's aircraft carrier when itgoes into alert mode because of 9/11. (Repeated at 8:30 tonight, 7p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday.)

"Fishing With Roland Martin" (7 p.m., Outdoor Life Network):Joining Martin are President George W. Bush, his Scottish terrierBarney and a Secret Service agent as they fish for bass on thepresident's ranch in Crawford, Texas. (Repeated at 10 tonight and 11a.m. Sunday.)

"Miss Teen USA Pageant" (8 p.m., WMAQ-Channel 5): It's yet anotherbeauty pageant from Donald Trump. And when you think beauty, that'sexactly who you think of, right?

"My Music: Superstars of Seventies Soul" (8 p.m., WTTW-Channel11): From the station that only a few weeks ago made a point ofcelebrating the death of disco comes evidence disco was never quitesnuffed. This reunion concert taped at Atlantic City's Borgata Hotelfeatures, among other acts, the Trammps, all decked out in spanglesand shaking it to "Disco Inferno." Burn, baby, burn. Indeed.

"The Jury" (8 p.m., WFLD-Channel 32): Bruno Kirby, "Cop Rock's"Ron McLarty and other jurors consider an attempted murder caseinvolving a psychiatrist who romanced a patient.

"Snapped" (8 p.m., Oxygen): Laura San Giacomo has to be mumbling"Just Shoot Me" to herself as she fronts this true-crime series.(Repeated at 3 p.m. Saturday.)

"Savvy" (9 p.m., WE: Women's Entertainment): "Next Action Star"host Tina Malave anchors this series that doles out advice to womenfrom various experts. The one question left unanswered is where WE ison your cable system, assuming it is on your cable system, which itmight not be. (Repeated at midnight tonight, 9:30 p.m. Saturday and10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.)

"Nighty Night" (10 p.m., Oxygen): Here's a promising British cultcomedy about a beautician (series creator Julia Davis) who tellspeople her ailing husband is dead so she can start dating, includinga serious pass at the husband of her wheelchair-bound neighbor. Whena colleague suffers an asthma attack , she scolds, "Take a deepbreath and get over it." (Repeated at 2 p.m. and 10 :30 p.m.Saturday.)

SATURDAY

"The Directors" (10 a.m., Encore): Myrna Turner lives. It's a lookback at Penny Marshall's career.

"Improving Your Memory With Dr. Barry Gordon" (4:30 p.m., WTTW-Channel 11): Huh?

"The Amazing Race" (7 p.m., WBBM-Channel 2): This rerun shouldmake more sense without Tuesday's storm alerts cluttering up thescreen and blocking all the vital info.

"Flight From Justice: The True Story of D.B. Cooper" (7 p.m.,Discovery Channel): After this two-hour program, you should knoweverything you could possibly want to know about the hijacker. Youmay never need to see another program on D.B. Cooper again. (Repeatedat 10 p.m.)

"Big Brother" (8 p.m., WBBM-Channel 2): You do know that only thepeople in the "Big Brother" house are unable to leave their home,right? You can go out, and probably should if you find yourselfwatching this.

"Unsolved History" (9 p.m., Discovery Channel): If only you couldremember more about D.B. Cooper from that other show, you would haveno reason to watch this. Maybe you should have watched Dr. BarryWhatshisname's show about, you know, not forgetting stuff. (Repeatedat midnight.)

"The Venture Brothers" (10 p.m., Cartoon Network): PatrickWarburton supplies a voice in this latest addition to Adult Swim. Inthe opener, set in Mexico, a groggy Dr. Venture finds his kidneyshave been stolen and the boys are missing. (Repeated at 1 a.m. and11:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 a.m. Monday.)

"Saturday Night Live" (10:35 p.m., WMAQ-Channel 5): Kelly Ripa andthose lively Outkast fellows turn in a decent rerun.

SUNDAY

"Dr. Wayne Dyer: The Power of Intention" (1 p.m., WTTW-Channel11): Here's my intention: To avoid watching Channel 11 for at leastthe four hours that this self-help cup-rattler is on. Powerful, no?

"The Hollywood Mom's Mystery" (8 p.m., Hallmark Channel): JustineBateman, George Hamilton, Andrew McCarthy, Elizabeth Pena, AngieEverhart, Melora Hardin and Martin Kove have a mystery to solve. Howdid they wind up making a Hallmark Channel movie? (Repeated at 10p.m.)

"American Candidate" (8 p.m., Showtime): Viewers made theiropinion known on this R. J. Cutler effort by ignoring last week's(STAR)(STAR) debut. It averaged only 128,000 viewers. That's notvoter apathy. That's just pathetic.

"The 4400" (8 p.m., USA Network): This miniseries -- starring JoelGretsch, Jacqueline McKenzie, Peter Coyote, Michael Moriarty,Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Patrick Flueger, Laura Allen, ConchitaCampbell, Mark Valley and Billy Campbell -- wraps its run. And if youwant to see it from the beginning, USA is rerunning the entire seriesbeginning at 3 p.m. Sunday. (Repeated at midnight.)

"Growing Up Gotti" (9 p.m., A&E): The New York Post reportsItalian-American groups are threatening to boycott the sponsors ofthis reality series because they say it gives Italians a bad name.(Repeated at 1 a.m.)

"SportsCenter" (10 p.m., ESPN): What's the point of having "OldSchool Week" on "SportsCenter" without reuniting Keith Olbermann andDan Patrick? Olbermann's the only ESPN alumnus an intelligent viewerwould want to see back behind the desk. Craig Kilborn becomes thefirst of five former highlight jockeys to return to Bristol, Conn.,as part of ESPN's 25th anniversary. Yeah. It's that exciting.
